Casa Particular Montoro is located in Plaza de La Revolucion, about 10 minutes walking to La Rampa Street and 20 minutes walking to the Habana Libre Hotel. The casa is officially in the Plaza de La Revolucion neighborhood, but since it is only 1 minute away from Centro Habana, I categorize it as a Central Havana casa. The casa is just a block away from Carlos Tercero street, where you can easily walk or take a taxi or bus to Old Havana or Vedado. Plaza is a neighborhood of colonial houses nestled between Vedado and Central Havana. It’s the best of both worlds.

The apartment is located on the second floor of a small condo complex. Guests receive the keys and can come and go as they want. The apartment has 1 large bedroom as well as a living room, kitchen and modern bathroom. It is the perfect place for a couple to enjoy a nice relaxing time in Havana. There is air conditioning. Total capacity for up to 3 people.

I like urban exploration, so I was happy to learn about the “hidden” places to explore in Havana. I loved walking inside the abandoned buildings. No other guides explain how to do this. If you actually want to explore Cuba on your own, and learn about Cuban life, you need this guide. Books from Globe Trekker, Lonely Planet and Rough Guide are pathetic in comparison.

The listings for the cheap casas particulares is awesome. I rented a large, private apartment, and it cost only $25 per night. I booked online and saved more than $10 per night. I avoided the hidden brokerage charges that other websites charge. Anyway, I saved a lot of money on a 10 day stay. Well worth the price of buying this book.
