Casa Particular Alejandro y Sandra is located in Vedado, about 2 minutes walking to La Rampa Street and 5 minutes walking to the Habana Libre Hotel. The beautiful Colon Cemetery and the Plaza de La Revolucion are about 15 minutes away.

There are 2 independent apartments for rent, located on the first floor of this Vedado mansion. Each apartments has its own exterior door and guests are given the keys so they can come and go as they want. The apartments are modernly decorated and have silent air conditioners. Each unit has a queen bed, a kitchen, fridge and an en-suite bathroom.

In front of the house there is a terrace and green space for relaxing. The landlord, Alejandro, lives in the main house and is available to give guests tips and suggestions for places to visit.

I like urban exploration, so I was happy to learn about the “hidden” places to explore in Havana. I loved walking inside the abandoned buildings. No other guides explain how to do this. If you actually want to explore Cuba on your own, and learn about Cuban life, you need this guide. Books from Globe Trekker, Lonely Planet and Rough Guide are pathetic in comparison.

The listings for the cheap casas particulares is awesome. I rented a large, private apartment, and it cost only $25 per night. I booked online and saved more than $10 per night. I avoided the hidden brokerage charges that other websites charge. Anyway, I saved a lot of money on a 10 day stay. Well worth the price of buying this book.
