Bicycle taxis in Havana2017-05-19T02:23:35+00:00

Project Description

Bicycle taxis again!

These guys work hard, but they also know how to relax. And in fact, they spend most of their days just lounging on their bikes. They would love to be working more, pedaling people around and making money, but there seem to be just too many of them. On average they manage to make a few dollars per day, which is really not bad when you consider the average state salary in Cuba is only about $30 per month.

If you find yourself in Havana, especially in Old Havana or Central Havana, don’t be shy to ask these guys for a lift. But make sure to negotiate a fair price. A CUC (about 1 US Dollar) to get across the neighborhood is reasonable. If you feel generous, you can even give them more. But never pay $5 or more… Unless you want to get ripped off.
