Casa Particular Mary y Miguel is located in Central Havana, within 5 minutes walking distance to Old Havana and just a 3 minute walk to the Habana Malecon (sea wall). The casa was built in 1913 but has been remodeled to preserve old world charm, wile offering modern ameneties. The casa is on the same block as the famous Casa de la Musica Habana.

Casa Mary y Miguel offers 3 bedrooms for rent in a restored colonial building. Each bedroom has air conditioning, private bathroom with hot and cold running water, ceiling fan, one double bed and 1 single bed. Also, each bedroom has a refrigerator and a TV. Each room can accommodate two adults maximum, plus a child.

In the apartment, there is a large living room which is ideal for relaxing, reading a book, chatting with a friend, sipping a mojito, or even having a dance lesson.

Beside the casa there is an upscale cafe/lounge which is also owned by the landlords and makes excellent food at attractive prices.

I like urban exploration, so I was happy to learn about the “hidden” places to explore in Havana. I loved walking inside the abandoned buildings. No other guides explain how to do this. If you actually want to explore Cuba on your own, and learn about Cuban life, you need this guide. Books from Globe Trekker, Lonely Planet and Rough Guide are pathetic in comparison.

The listings for the cheap casas particulares is awesome. I rented a large, private apartment, and it cost only $25 per night. I booked online and saved more than $10 per night. I avoided the hidden brokerage charges that other websites charge. Anyway, I saved a lot of money on a 10 day stay. Well worth the price of buying this book.
