Casa Particular Rodriguez is located in Plaza de La Revolucion, about 10 minutes walking to La Rampa Street and 20 minutes walking to the Habana Libre Hotel. The casa is officially in the Plaza de La Revolucion neighborhood, but since it is only 1 minute away from Centro Habana, I categorize it as a Central Havana casa. The casa is just a block away from Carlos Tercero street, where you can easily walk or take a taxi or bus to Old Havana or Vedado. Plaza is a neighborhood of colonial houses nestled between Vedado and Central Havana. It’s the best of both worlds.

This affordable casa is located on the third floor of a small apartment building. The owner, Miriam Rodriguez, lives in the apartment and is happy to give advice and help to the guests, as they explore Havana. There are 2 large bedrooms for rent. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other one has a queen bed and a single bed. In the apartment there is also a living room, kitchen and bathroom. It is the perfect place for a couple to enjoy a nice relaxing time in Havana. There is air conditioning.

Note: The apartment is on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator.

I like urban exploration, so I was happy to learn about the “hidden” places to explore in Havana. I loved walking inside the abandoned buildings. No other guides explain how to do this. If you actually want to explore Cuba on your own, and learn about Cuban life, you need this guide. Books from Globe Trekker, Lonely Planet and Rough Guide are pathetic in comparison.

The listings for the cheap casas particulares is awesome. I rented a large, private apartment, and it cost only $25 per night. I booked online and saved more than $10 per night. I avoided the hidden brokerage charges that other websites charge. Anyway, I saved a lot of money on a 10 day stay. Well worth the price of buying this book.
