The Habana Libre Hotel is Filled with Fidel Castro Memorabilia
The Habana Libre Hotel is filled with photos and memorabilia of the revolution and Fidel Castro. On this wall, located in an isolated nook on the 4th floor of the hotel, there is an impromptu display of patriotism. There are photos of Castro, Che, Jose Marti and the Cuba flag.
The Habana Libre Hotel (Then called the Havana Hilton), was the first building taken over by the revolutionary army when they took over Havana. Castro and his troops occupied the building for months afterward, turning it into the headquarters for the new government. You should definitely check out the photos and displays in the hotel lobby and mezzanine to learn more about this historic event.
