Project Description
Vines and Nature in Havana
In the tropical Havana climate, it’s not difficult for nature to overtake parts of the city. And when it looks this beautiful, I don’t think anybody is complaining. These trees are amazing. They drop branches down, and sprout new roots from the tips. Some of these trees are over 20 feet wide at the base. And the vines crawling up that limestone wall… those are actually providing some structural support. They hold all the little rocks in so that they don’t fall. Everything serves a purpose in this delicate ecosystem. This photo was taken along Avenida de Los Presidentes, south of 29th street.
