Casa Particular Santana is located in Vedado, about 2 minutes walking to La Rampa Street and 15 minutes walking to the Habana Libre Hotel. The beautiful Colon Cemetery and the Plaza de La Revolucion are about 5 to 10 minutes away.

The apartment has 2 large bedrooms, each with their own en suite bathrooms, as well as a living room, dining area, kitchen and beautiful terrace with views. There is air conditioning as well. One room has a king bed, the other has a queen bed. Total capacity for up to 4 people. It’s a good option if you are two couples traveling together.

The apartment is located on the third floor of a colonial building. The landlord, Joel (Yoel), lives in the apartment. He is a young man who knows everything about Havana and loves to give guests tips and suggestions for places to visit.

I like urban exploration, so I was happy to learn about the “hidden” places to explore in Havana. I loved walking inside the abandoned buildings. No other guides explain how to do this. If you actually want to explore Cuba on your own, and learn about Cuban life, you need this guide. Books from Globe Trekker, Lonely Planet and Rough Guide are pathetic in comparison.

The listings for the cheap casas particulares is awesome. I rented a large, private apartment, and it cost only $25 per night. I booked online and saved more than $10 per night. I avoided the hidden brokerage charges that other websites charge. Anyway, I saved a lot of money on a 10 day stay. Well worth the price of buying this book.
